Co-Viewing Brought to You by the Living Room

Kidoodle.TV_Co-Viewing_Infographic2020

The closures of schools and daycare centers have changed family life for millions around the world. Parents’ stress levels have soared and kids are spending much more time on screens.

One way parents are attempting to lessen the adverse effects of additional screen time is by tuning in alongside their kids to create a family viewing experience. In fact, according to our latest Co-Viewing Snapshot Report, nearly 80% of kids, ages 18 months to 12 are streaming content in the family room with parents next to them or in earshot. This means that parents are constantly tapped into what type of content their kids are consuming and are active contributors to their kids’ streaming experience.

Stay tuned for our yearly report where we take a look at parent sentiment around screen time and their hopes for the future of streaming.

Methodology:

The Kidoodle.TV Survey was conducted by Wakefield Research among 1,000 nationally representative U.S. parents of kids ages 18 months to 12 years old, between October 16th and October 22nd, 2020, using an email invitation and an online survey. The data was weighted to ensure an accurate representation of parents of kids ages 18 months to 12 years old. Results of any sample are subject to sampling variation. The magnitude of the variation is measurable and is affected by the number of interviews and the level of the percentages expressing the results. For the interviews conducted in this particular study, the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 3.1 percentage points from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.
