The first week in July is a big week. Both Canada Day and Independence Day (The Fourth of July) fall within the same week. Since Canada and the United States are the two countries where Kidoodle.TV is currently available, we thought we would take a minute to honor both holidays.

Fun Canada Day Facts

  • Canada Day is celebrated on July 1 every year.
  • Cities across Canada throw Canada Day celebrations. Search for celebrations by city names here.
  • Canada Day has been celebrated since July 1, 1867.
  • Canada Day is a celebration of the Constitution Act, 1867.
  • Canada Day celebrations are held by Canadian expats around the world.

Fun Independence Day (Fourth of July) Facts

  • Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th.
  • Independence Day¬†commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 declaring the United States’ independence from Great Britain.
  • Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, two of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence, actually died on July 4th.
  • Independence Day wasn’t an official holiday until 1870.
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the US national bird instead of the bald eagle.
